Karl Ploberger, garden expert #26 What is a digital garden? If one looks at the Corona year 2020, then a development potentiated, which can already be observed for not quite ten years. One's own green oasis, a balcony, a terrace or a garden are gaining in importance. Not just as a place to relax, but also to grow their own vegetables, fruit and berries. However, these "urban gardeners", who can be found in the age group of 30+, have hardly inherited any knowledge. A survey, which I have on my homepage at the end of 2020, has shown that as a source of information the parents and grandparents are missing, and in many cases on books, magazines above all however on the digital media is set. As the ratings of the ORF gardening program "Nature in the Garden" show, there is a tremendous need for information. Viewer numbers (broadcast date Sunday, 5:05 p.m., ORF 2) have developed well overall over the past 15 years.
Record rating: 32%, 791,000 viewersNew in Lockdown: "Paradise at home - Austria's most beautiful gardens"It therefore seems sensible to support ''gardening'' with a digital info package. Short videos on cultivation, plants and, above all, care, offered on a clear website, could ensure the need for information here. Despite the overabundance of information on the Internet, it is clear (also from the survey) that people prefer to rely on tried-and-tested sources of information.
