ORF Act
§4. (6) Independence is not only a right of journalistic or programme-making staff, but also their duty. §32. (1) The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation and its subsidiaries shall respect the independence and personal responsibility of all programme-making staff as well as the freedom of journalistic practice of all journalistic staff in the performance of all tasks assigned to them within the framework of this federal law.

ORF programme guidelines
Programme elements of information programmes, including moderation, must contain factual and concrete information; rumours and own speculations are excluded. Only agencies that are reliable based on experience are permitted as main sources of information without explicit citation.

ORF mission statement
The ORF is aware of the trust placed in it by the Austrian population and makes a valuable contribution to the public diversity of opinion and quality of communication and thus to tolerance, solidarity and integration in society.

ORF Programme Guidelines
The communication of science refers to both established scientific knowledge and new scientific theses. The aim is not only to inform about topics of science, but also to contribute to a better understanding of current problems and their interrelationships and thus to offer, among other things, help for life.

ORF mission statement
As Austria's electronic memory, the ORF is a "public media library of knowledge". It communicates the findings of scientific research and makes educational content accessible to all.

§4. (1) The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation shall ensure appropriate consideration of the concerns of disabled people and appropriate consideration and promotion of social and humanitarian activities, including awareness-raising for the integration of disabled people in society and in the labour market.


ORF is aware of its social and, in particular, social responsibility and makes a valuable contribution to public diversity of opinion and quality of communication and thus to tolerance, solidarity and integration in society.
