Quotes #37 How can ORF's information offer remain relevant in the face of digital information overload? As part of its quality assurance, the ORF asked representatives of the scientific community how they see the future of public service information in the digital world. Here are some statements.

"The development and expansion of digital media projects is needed (from digital platforms to AI-supported productions and user-oriented preparation of content, including algorithmic suggestion systems suitable for democracy). This includes: Especially with digital projects, pay attention to where the young age groups are at the moment ... Digital projects must therefore be designed dynamically."Dr. Josef Seethaler, Austrian Academy of Sciences

"In the case of the online offer (TVthek) it seems clear that the restriction to seven days must be dropped, for which there are few reasons, especially from the point of view of the information mandate. " FH-Prof. Priv. Doz. Dr. Michael Litschka, University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten

"In any case, it is important that public service media also offer their own freely accessible distribution channels in view of the dominance of commercial, data-driven platforms. " Dr.in Natascha Zeitel-Bank, University of Innsbruck

"Young/youthful target groups can now be reached exclusively via social media. There is clearly a need to catch up in this respect. The digital space must be used more by clearly recognisable and designated ORF information content. Legal models for the future are overdue. However, these are political decisions outside the ORF sphere. A digital development push is urgently needed."  FH Prof. Dr. Heinz Fischer, FH-Joanneum Graz
