Alexander Hofer, born in 1972 and the father of two sons, began his journalistic career in 1992 as an editor in the News Department of ORF’s Lower Austria regional studio. From 1999 to 2007, Hofer worked as a regional correspondent presenter, editor, and weather presenter for the ORF 2 early-evening program Willkommen Österreich. In 2007, he took over as head of editorial management for TV entertainment and lifestyle magazines and assumed overall channel responsibility for Seitenblicke. In addition, he was responsible for TV formats such as 9 Plätze – 9 Schätze and served as project manager for Guten Morgen Österreich from 2015 to 2018.

From 2014, he served as deputy head, and from 2019 as interim head, of ORF TV Entertainment. In May 2018, he was appointed Channel Manager of ORF 2. In this role, he was responsible, among other things, for the introduction of the formats ZIB 2 am Sonntag, Studio 2, and the science program Mayrs Magazin, as well as—working closely with the ZIB editorial team—for numerous special broadcasts related to the Ibiza video, the COVID-19 pandemic, and most recently the war in Ukraine.

On March 23, 2023, he was appointed Regional Director of ORF’s Lower Austria regional studio.
