06 | JUNE - Federalism
Vienna is different - Michaela Turan, ORF Vienna
This slogan is still valid after more than 20 years. Vienna is the only city in Austria with over a million inhabitants. Not only do people from numerous nations live in Vienna - Germans, Turks, Croats, Syrians, Hungarians, etc. - but people from other federal states, such as Styrians, Vorarlbergers and Salzburgers have also found their new home here.
What is the connection between the East Tyrolean employee who moved here 30 years ago and the Bosnian-born student born in Vienna? What do the taxi driver from Ottakring and the teacher from Floridsdorf have in common?
Viennese people are oriented towards the usefulness of the information conveyed by the media in the big city and the utility value of the programme for people with an urban lifestyle. ORF Vienna offers these urban media Viennese their own home, a multimedia reflection of their fluid identity.
The programme ranges from young Viennese music and cabaret to culture and service tips. From reports on the demonstration on Heldenplatz to the premiere of the latest James Bond film, from the carnival parade in Simmering to the Neustifter Kirtag. Radio Wien, Wien heute and wien.ORF.at provide information on "when where how what" is taking place, how much the ticket costs and what to look out for. Radio Wien is particularly concerned with everyday culture, gives advice on furnishing, legal issues and consumer protection, and plant tips. Radio Wien, Wien heute and wien.ORF.at are where the Viennese are.
And for those city dwellers who do not speak our language perfectly (or also for people with learning difficulties), we bring the most important news of the week summarised as "news in simple language". ORF Vienna is there for everyone.
