27 - Why do we actually need an Austrian Broadcasting Corporation?

Director
Roland Weißmann explains: "A strong, pluralistic media landscape is essential for social cohesion and the formation of identity. We, the quality media, promote public dialogue and combat polarization in order to ensure the participation of all social classes and to reflect diversity. In view of these challenges, strong Austrian broadcasting is crucial for the country and the health of its democracy. ORF is aware of this responsibility for public value and works with its more than 3,000 employees every day to live up to it and to be an 'ORF for all'."
An ORF for all is also reflected in the ORF's focus areas, which cover the entire country wherever possible.

Auch von höchster staatlicher Stelle, von Bundespräsident Alexander Van der Bellen, gibt es eine Stellungnahme zur Frage, wozu es einen österreichischen Rundfunk braucht - inklusive persönlichem Wunsch.
By the way: To cultivate the Austrian language, which the ORF is also obliged to do by law, training sessions are held every year by Chief Spokesperson Haimo Godler. In 2023, there were 213 with a total of 453 participants. More data on the ORF training courses here.
