„Prix Europa“ für „The Cleaners”: Internationales öffentlich-rechtliches Dokuprojekt mit ORF-Beteiligung ausgezeichnet
Der Film "The Cleaners" hat den Prix Europa für die beste europäische TV-Dokumentation des Jahres gewonnen. Vergangenen Freitag erhielt die internationale Produktion mit ORF-Beteiligung die begehrte Stier-Trophäe in Berlin. Mit dem Prix Europa werden jährlich die besten TV-, Radio- und Online-Produktionen ausgezeichnet.

Die Dokumentation "The Cleaners - Im Schatten der Netzwelt" führt nach Manila, dem größten Outsourcing-Standort für Content Moderation der Welt. Dorthin lagern Konzerne aus dem Silicon Valley die Moderation von Content im Netz aus. Die Moderator/innen arbeiten in Zehn-Stunden-Schichten und löschen belastende Fotos und Videos aus den Sozialen Netzwerken. Der Film zeigt, wie komplexe Entscheidungen über Zensur im Internet von diesen "Saubermacher/innen" übernommen werden und unter welchen Umständen sie arbeiten.

Der Debutfilm von Hans Block und Moritz Riesewieck wurde bereits mehrfach ausgezeichnet. Die Produktion der Gebrüder Beetz Filmproduktion in Zusammenarbeit mit zahlreichen öffentlich-rechtlichen Sendern, u. a. der TV-Kulturabteilung des ORF, war im September 2018 in ORF 2 zu sehen.
