At ‘Re:Publica’, Germany's largest digital festival, experts call for stronger regulation of big tech and more investment in European social media. The goal is an independent European digital infrastructure. Markus Beckedahl, founder of Re:Publica, emphasises the need for new formats and narratives to reach society. Lawyers warn of the threat to freedom of expression posed by large tech companies and demand that platforms should be liable for content. Media scientist Bernhard Pörksen talks about ‘networked violence’ and recommends education and regulation as countermeasures. The discussion shows the urgency of shaping Europe's digital future. At the ORF DialogForum on May 13, 2025, award winners and experts discussed media quality and the added value of ORF. Participants such as Andrea Eder, Faris Rahoma and Roland Gratzer spoke about their award-winning work and the importance of quality journalism. Die ORF Public Value - Jahresstudie bearbeitet aktuell das Thema „ Medien für alle!?: Chancen und Herausforderungen für den öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunk im Kontext gesellschaftlicher Segmentierung und Polarisierung“ und wird von Univ.-Prof.in Dr.in Larissa Krainer (Universität Klagenfurt) und Dr. Josef Seethaler (ÖAW) wissenschaftlich koordiniert. Öffentlich-rechtliche Medien aus Deutschland und der Schweiz beteiligen sich an der Studie und bearbeiten unterschiedliche Aspekte, etwa, inwieweit junge Zielpublika erreicht werden bzw. erreicht werden können, welche Unterschiede es zwischen Stadt und Land gibt etc – und, als genuin österreichischer Beitrag, inwieweit auch sozial Benachteiligte im selben Ausmaß von öffentlich-rechtlichen Medien profitieren wie alle anderen. Als Vorarbeit dazu fand am 17. März eine Fokusgruppe von Fachleuten zum Thema im ORF-Zentrum statt.
