14 - Why does the economy concern us all?

subtitle14

According to the ORF Act, the ORF must also provide the general public with comprehensive information on economic issues and promote an understanding of economic relationships as part of its core public service mandate. Reporting must be independent of economic lobbies. After all, the topic of "the economy" concerns everyone. Why? More on this from Barbara Battisti, ORF News.

ORF Video

In addition to information as part of news programs, ORF broadcasts its own business magazine. "ECO", weekly on Thursdays at 10.30 pm on ORF 2.

And ORF ON has its own archive for "Politics and Economy", including, for example, a wealth of information on record inflation and the energy crisis. Incidentally, the topics "Economy, Europe, security/politics" are of great interest ("very interested") to around a third of those surveyed, according to a study by the Audience Council in 2022. Just as many frequently use ORF reporting on the respective topic. When it comes to the economy, 78% of the male audience and 62% of the female audience say they are very or fairly interested. Both interest in and use of ORF reporting on the topics increase with age Satisfaction with ORF reporting on the topics of the economy and Europe is 2.6 on a school grading scale.
