New digital communication technologies have radically changed the way people use media. Social media offerings have shaken the role of journalistic media as "gatekeepers" and produced a generation of "news avoiders" who have no access to editorial media or - even more threatening - seek it. At the same time, artificial intelligence is opening up new, previously unimagined dimensions. Given the dominance of global corporations such as Meta, Microsoft, Apple and Alphabet in the digital world, what can ORF do? The public's interest in ORF on the Internet and on social media is certainly high.
